Angel is an albino dolphin who was captured on January 17, 2014 in Taiji, Japan. Every year, from September till February dolphins are hunted at the coast side of the small village of Taiji. Big schools of dolphins are driven into the bay. The most beautiful ones will be captured and transported to dolphinarium around the world. The rest will be slaughtered brutally and literally the bay will be colored red due to the bloodshed. The dolphin meat will be prepared for consumption for the Japanese market.
Today
Now, two years later, I read an article in the German magazine for animals “Chico” about Angel. Meanwhile, little Angel has grown into a beautiful adult animal, but very unhappy. She swims in a much too smal indoor water tank filled with chlorine, without her family, with a few species. This reminds me of the short connection I had with her shortly after she was captured. I talked to her on February 17, 2015. She told me the following: “Do not worry about me. This is my destiny. I will not be here much longer. My short life here on earth is to make you aware of what is happening in this world, open your eyes and help us. My time is short here. Due to my destiny many of my family members will be spared. Live consciously, enjoy every day and respect everything around you!“
Now she is mature, a weak light shines within her. A large part of her is no longer here on this earth. She partly said farewell to her earthly existence. Yet she remains on earth to keep the focus on what is still happening in Taiji up to the present day. Let us be aware that we keep alive these brutal dolphin battues and the killing of these beautiful and special creatures if we still visit a dolphinarium, swim with captive dolphins or visit Sea World!
