Just a Monday morning?

KestrelHaving breakfast with a colleague, chatting about the weekend, but also talking about the terrible attack in Munich last Friday evening, a little drama happens with a kestrel, just before my eyes. I saw it was chased by some crows, but did not notice it further, as it happens a lot that birds play or chase each other. But the next time I looked out of the window, the little kestrel was laying on the pavement, his wings spread wide and just looked exhausted.

I did not had to think long what to do, ran outside and tried to pick him up. Unfortunately he flew away against a big window, but I could grasp him by the second attempt. He really was frightened and totally exhausted by the crows chase and the fright he became from me. Of course he tried to get away from me. I tried to calm him down by putting my scarf over his body and eyes.

I was happy my colleagues helped me to call the animal rescue number and getting a big box to put him in. After getting some information of the animal rescue employee and the several options about what to do, I decided to give the young bird some hours to rest and looked after him every half hour. He got calmer and looked good and he definitely wanted to get out of the box. I did not know what would be the best to do, but my feelings told me he is ok and he needs his freedom. So I decided not to bring him to the animal rescue center or the bird clinic, but to give him back his freedom in nature, there is where he belongs. My colleague and I went to the little parc in the neighborhood of our office aKestrel1nd as I opened the box a little bit, he already flew out. With a beautiful flight he flew into a tree, looked down to me, before flying to the next tree.

My little, young kestrel, I wish you a beautiful and happy live!

Thank you Susan and Thomas for helping me!
